Bulldogs Track Team Compete At Regions

The Burgin Bulldogs track and field team participated in the Class 1A Region 5 track meet at Admiral Stadium in Danville, on Saturday, May 9.
The Bulldogs girls track team placed fifth overall and scored 45 points. Burgin boys placed eleventh, scoring 12 points. As a team, they made the podium four times and won two gold medals.
Senior Raegan Taylor won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.63 seconds and took home fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles. Senior Kate Hatfield broke her own record with a high jump of 5-02 to win the girls high jump event. Junior Maddie Peavler scored 12 points with a second-place finish in discus and placed fourth in shot put. The girls’ best relay finish was the 4×800-meter relay team of Bristol Keith, Payton Berry, Emma Sexton and Camry Taylor, who finished fourth.
Junior Carter Myrhe finished second in the boys pole vault event, vaulting 11 feet. The boys 4×800-meter relay team of Hudson Taylor, Aidan Phillips, Eastin Hopkins and Barron Bradshaw finished fifth and scored two points.
Burgin’s automatic state qualifiers include Hatfield, Taylor, Peavler and Myrhe. Other Bulldogs have a chance to qualify depending on the results.
