The Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg Men’s Soccer team (2-3) picked up their second straight win on Monday, Sept. 16, after opening up an impressive 4-0 lead after only 12 minutes of play against the Alice Lloyd College Eagles (1-3-1).

Michael Canseco Jime set the tone seconds after kickoff, running rampant in the Eagles’ penalty box before being brought down in much too physical fashion. Senior Gabe Cisneros stepped up and fired the penalty low and in the corner for the Pioneers’ first goal at Hilpp Family Field this fall (4’).

In less than 60 seconds Harrodsburg was back in scoring position, after a cross floated in by Cisneros was controlled perfectly by freshman Jose Cedeno, who turned to goal and fired a low shot into the net with his next touch (5’).

The Pioneers swarmed the Eagles box every time they brought the ball into the opponent’s third of the field. Sophomore Bryan Canseco’s free kick attempt was parried by the Eagle keeper directly to the feet of Jorge Vaca, who took a touch around the keeper and passed the Pioneers’ third goal into an empty net (12’).

Just as all hope seemed lost for Alice Lloyd, AJ Mohommad brought down an Eagle attacker from behind in the box, earned a red card and gave Alice Lloyd a penalty. Dylan Moore opened the scoring for the Eagles from the spot (16’).

Lawrenceburg native Carlos Hernandez took on the Eagle left back moments later. The freshman faked a pass to create space and then cut the ball back across the box to former Mercer County Titan Ben Waddell, who scored his first goal in a Harrodsburg jersey (33’).

“It was good. It was my first goal in three years of playing soccer,” said Waddell, who hadn’t scored a goal since his sophomore year of high school, until his brace against the Eagles.

Waddell scored the Pioneers’ next goal in clever fashion. After the freshman opened up his stride and passed the Alice Lloyd backline, he chipped the keeper to make the score 6-1, a lead that the Pioneers carried with them into the locker room after 45 minutes.

Alice Lloyd found their second goal shortly after the second half started. The Eagle keeper sent a punt to forward Trenton Dunn, who let the ball bounce off of his backside and roll past the Pioneer back line, right to another Eagle forward, who finished one-on-one with the keeper (50’).
