MARY BOSWELL

Mary Elizabeth Sutton Boswell, 44, died Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born Dec. 12, 1981, in Harrodsburg, she was the cherished daughter of Greg and Sue Sutton.

Mary’s educational journey took her from Harrodsburg High School to Maryville College in Tennessee. After graduation, she enrolled at Eastern Kentucky University, becoming a registered nurse. Her dedication to her profession led her to work at Eastern State Hospital since 2004, where she helped countless patients. Mary was also a clinical instructor at EKU since 2021. 

Mary’s greatest achievement in life was raising her son, J.T. He was her only child, and she was incredibly proud of him every day. She found immense joy in watching him play sports and cherished the memories they made together on their travels. Mary had a deep love for the ocean and dreamed of retiring and moving to the beach. She was an exceptional sister, the kind you wish you had, and an even better friend. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: her beloved son, James Travis “J.T.” Boswell; two sisters, Katie (Josh) Smith and Annie Sutton; one nephew, Cole (Dawn Despain) Smith; one great-nephew, Cooper Smith; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Glen and Leota Foltz, and paternal grandparents, Reid and Florence Sutton.

A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, June 6,  at Sims Funeral Services with Josh Snyder officiating.

Visitation time will begin at noon at Sims Funeral Services.

Visitation Friday, June 5, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.      

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 70360, Philadelphia, PA  19176-0360, in Mary’s memory.
