Bulldogs Compete At Heart Of The Bluegrass

The Burgin Bulldogs track and field team participated in the AJ’s Heart of the Bluegrass track Classic on Saturday, April 11.
The Bulldogs girls’ track team placed 16th out of 25 schools, scoring 22.5 points. Burgin came away with a pair of bronze medals at the meet.
Senior Raegan Taylor placed third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.19, and sophomore Maddie Peavler finished third in discus with a distance of 108-09. Peavler also secured some points with a sixth-place finish in shot put. Senior Kate Hatfield placed sixth in the high jump for the Bulldogs. Burgin’s girls 4×200 team, made up of R. Taylor, Camry Taylor, Bristol Keith and Megan Darland, placed seventh with a time of 2:04.
Senior Douglas McCoy finished 21st in the discus throw with a distance of 83-10 for the Bulldogs. The Burgin boys 4×100 team that included Eastin Hopkins, Hudson Taylor, McCoy and Aidan Phillips finished ninth with a time of 52.96.
Burgin’s next meet is the Lake Cumberland Classic hosted by Somerset on Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m.
