The Mercer County Titan baseball team (16-16) faced the East Jessamine Jaguars (17-14) for the third time this season in the opening round of the 46th District Tournament held at the Mercer County baseball complex on Monday, May 19.

Mercer and East Jessamine are very evenly matched, as shown in their previous meetings. Each team won their home game 5-4 in the midseason and this game was no less competitive.

The Titans had an impressive defensive performance. Davis Tyler started on the mound and made things difficult for the Jaguars. The sophomore allowed just one hit and one earned run through the first four innings.

Mercer got off to a hot start at the plate and did a great job of reading pitches throughout the game, but lead-off Carter Devine was caught stealing second moments after the game began.
