The Burgin boys basketball team (3-24) were defeated,  30-83, by the Thomas Nelson Generals (10-16) Monday, Feb.  14. The Bulldogs celebrated three seniors with John Boursaw, Travis Stewart and Greyson Mitchell getting their honors.

The game started slow with  the first basket coming at the 6:30 mark in the first quarter as Boursaw knocked down a 3-pointer, 3-0. Thomas Nelson answered back with a 3-pointer of their own to tie the game, 3-3. Mitchell had a big block on defense and Qualls drove the ball into the paint, but there was a big pile up and four players ended up on the ground. Qualls took the worst of it being down for a few minutes and would not return to the court. Mitchell was also shaken up on the play.

With Qualls and Mitchell out of the line up Jonah McKnight got his chance and made a quick impact with a rebound and layup, 5-5. At the half way point in the first quarter  the Generals put together a nine point run, 5-14.  Seth Hatfield had a run of his own burying a corner 3-pointer and earning two more points in the paint with a putback, 10-14…..
