The Mercer County Titans boys basketball team fell, 45-55, to 46th District opponent the East Jessamine Jaguars in a summer scrimmage Friday, June 12.
The Titans stuck first, scoring the first basket on a jump shot in the paint from senior Mijaia Dunn, 2-0. East Jessamine responded with back-to-back 3-pointers to take the lead, 2-6. Senior Michael Cox, who was back in the lineup after a season ending injury last year, was fouled on a baseline drive and made his free throws and Jaguars answered with free throws of their own, 4-10. East Jessamine scored off a steal and used their height advantage for another bucket at the rim, 4-14. The Titans had the final two baskets in the first quarter from a layup by senior Caden Brogli and Dunn made two more free throws, 8-14.
