Lady Titans win first Mercer All-Comers of season

Darnell, Blevins and Leitenberger finish 1-2-3; Curtsinger finishes first among males

The first Mercer County All-Comers cross country meet of the season took place on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Anderson-Dean Park.

The Lady Titans had a solid day to say the least. They finished first overall ahead of Lincoln County and Burgin.

Freshman Clayra Darnell finished in first place (22:43), senior Haley Blevins finished behind her in second (22:57) and junior Emma Leitenberger placed third (23:48).

Seventh grader Katie Lewis was the next Lady Titan to cross the finish line, placing 10th (26:05), followed by junior Brianna Wimsatt, who placed 12th (26:20).

Head Coach David Teets talked about how special of a season the Lady Titans could have before the season, and this performance further proved that.

The last two runners that placed for the Lady Titans was junior Madison King, who placed 20th (31:05), and junior Corban Profitt, who placed 22nd (32:49).

Senior Cody Curtsinger was the top finisher for the Titans, placing first overall (18:32). Freshman Elijah Profitt placed eighth (20:41), freshman Brady Howard placed 18th (23:19) and sophomore Carson Coy placed 30th (29:03).

Mercer County’s next meet will take place at Ky Horse Park at the Franklin Invitational in Lexington.
