The KHSAA State Football Playoffs have been set and the Mercer County Titans are slated to host the Knox Central Panthers Friday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. at Alvis Johnson Field.

Knox Central is a familiar opponent as the Panthers ended the Titans’ season in the second round of the playoffs last season. They defeated Mercer County 19-17, before falling to Wayne County 42-14 the following week.

This year, the Titans  look to get their revenge.

Knox Central enters the playoff game with a 4-5-1 record. Their tie came against Henry Clay, when the teams decided to end the game in a 7-7 tie after multiple weather delays on  Sept. 16.

The Panthers have defeated Waggener, Harlan County, Russell County and Clay County. They’ve lost to Madison Central, Southwestern, Wayne County, Rockcastle County and Corbin.

Mercer County and Knox Central have two common opponents: Southwestern and Wayne County.
