As the summer heat ramps up and the KHSAA dead period approaches, one Mercer County standout receiver is returning from a summer on the football camp trail. Soon-to-be senior Jacob Sanford has been busy preparing for his final season in high school by facing tough competition on the camp trail, which was his main goal in a series of six camps he attended over the last few weeks.

“My biggest focus was getting in better shape and going against better competition to get me ready for the competition we play this year,” said Sanford, who attended camps at Eastern Kentucky University, Louisville, Miami of Ohio and Thomas More. Sanford was also invited to showcase his skills at Division-I FCS Indiana State and NAIA powerhouse Georgetown College.

Ever since Titan Football Coach Craig Yeast gave Sanford a shot with the varsity offense in 2023, Sanford has played an essential role in the Titans’ offense, both as a receiver and setting the edge in the run game from his tight end spot. Despite it being his first year playing varsity, Sanford ended his sophomore season with the second-most receiving yards on the team (338) and the most touchdowns of any receiver.
