Lady Bulldogs Battle With Frankfort Christian

The Burgin Lady Bulldogs (3-11) played their second to last regular season game on Monday, Oct. 14, when they faced the Frankfort Christian Royals (3-15).

The Royals jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but the Lady Bulldogs won back-to-back points after Briana Florian served an ace, and senior Ava Todd drilled a kill and the score was 7-4 13 blocked a hit after Todd served an ace  and the second was 9-8.

Florian smacked down back-to-back kills to tie the game at 10. The Lady Bulldogs rattled them and forced a timeout after going on a four-point run. The Lady Bulldogs maintained their lead for most of the set, but Todd sent five straight hits into the net, allowing the Royals to sneak back and take a 21-20 lead. Burgin eventually called a timeout trailing 23-21. After a long rally that included diving digs from Sammi Martin and Morgan Burke, Burgin tied the game at 25 thanks to a mishit from the Royals.

After struggling earlier in the set, Todd had consecutive kills to claim the first set for the Lady Bulldogs, 27-25.
