The Mercer County Titans baseball team (12-7) lost 5-8 to the Lafayette Generals (6-13) on Friday, April 24.

Mercer went into the seventh inning with a two-run lead, but couldn’t put the Generals away and gave up a five-run inning. Senior Ayden Stephens led Mercer in hits with three, and senior Carter Devine scored two runs for the Titans. Four different Titans split time on the mound  and senior Carter Ruehs got the start.

Lafayette hit first to start the game, and Ruehs walked the first two batters before getting his first strikeout. A walk and a strikeout gave the Generals loaded bases with two outs. Ruehs walked another batter to put Lafayette on the scoreboard first, 0-1. Mercer earned the third out on a catch from junior Caden Brogli in center field, but the Generals scored another run on the play, 0-2.
