The Mercer County Titans boys basketball team beat the Tates Creek Commodores, 61-49, in a summer ball matchup Monday, June 22.
The Titans out-dueled the hot-shooting Commodores in a back-and-forth matchup. Mercer’s younger players had a good showing, and a fast-paced style of play helped the Titans get going on offense.
The first half started with an early 3-pointer from Tates Creek, and Mercer responded with a layup from senior Caden Brogli, 2-3. The Commodores made another outside shot, and Brogli scored at the rim, 4-6. Tates Creek took a four-point lead off of a put-back, and on the other end, eighth grader Trace Short made the Titans’ first three of the game, 7-8. Brogli put Mercer ahead with two more points in the paint, 9-8.
