The Mercer County track and field team traveled to Paris to participate in the Bourbon County High School Colonel Relays on Saturday, April 24.

The boys’ team placed second, scoring 138 points, just behind Lafayette by less than a point. The girls’ team placed sixth with a total of 48 points. Both teams were missing big contributors, including seniors Ralasia Piazza and Ian Alcorn. Others unable to make it include Liam Moffet, Cannon Buchanan and Makinlee Moore

The boys’ team placed first in four field events, including two gold medals from junior Noah Nicholas in both throwing events. Senior Jayden Sailor took the top spot in the triple jump, along with a third-place finish in long jump behind his teammate Jon Konner Moore, who placed second. Junior Tajuan Bess had a good meet with a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles and a bronze finish in the high jump.
