Bulldogs Earn Big Comeback Victory Over Bardstown

The Burgin Bulldogs softball team (3-7) beat the Bardstown Tigers (2-6), 17-7, on Thursday, April 16.

Burgin fell behind five runs in the top of the third inning and responded with an 11-run outing in the bottom of the third inning. The Bulldogs were able to win the game via a 10-run lead in the fifth inning. Sophomore Jocelyn Stanley “hit for a cycle” which is a single, double, triple and a homerun all in the same game.

The Tigers started the game hitting in the top of the first and Burgin started sophomore Leah Jenkins at pitcher. Jenkins walked the first batter, who stole second and reached third on an error. The next batter was hit by a pitch and Bardstown scored two runs with a line drive to left field, 0-2.  Jenkins struck out a batter, but walked one and hit another with a pitch to give the Tigers bases loaded. Another walk scored a run for the Tigers, 0-3. Jenkins struck out a batter and the Bulldogs were able to pick off the runner at third for the final out.
