Looking Ahead To A Busy Fall

Fall officially starts on Monday, Sept. 22, but fall fun is already here.

Daynabrook Farms and Greenhouse (135 Dunn Lane) will open for the season on Saturday, Sept. 6. Daynabrook held an event on Labor Day weekend, but starting on Saturday, they will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., (10 a.m. to 9 p.m., starting Sept. 20); and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

The cost is $15 per person aged three and up. Admission includes: pedal cars, playgrounds, inflatables, small zip line, corn maze, wagon ride, petting zoo, access to the covered pavilion and the super slide. Everyone gets a pumpkin to take home. Concessions, tower zipline, greenhouse plants, and additional pumpkins are available at additional cost. Groups of 15 or more can save $3 per person on general admission. Ride bracelet are $5 and include unlimited rides on the tea cups, swing ride (48-inch height requirement), cowboy ride, train (size restricted), dizzy disco, carousel and roller coaster.

Devine’s Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch (623 Talmage Mayo Road) opens Friday, Sept. 12. They will be open Fridays from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.

Admission is $14 for age 13 and up, $12 for ages three to 12 and free for children ages two and younger. Admission includes a free pumpkin, the 10 acre corn maze, wagon rides, feedlot challenge, duck races, human hamster wheels, the hay maze, tube swings, giant slide, corn crib, tire mountain, bonfire with roasted marshmallows, critter petting, zip track, corn hopper, barnyard ball, spider web, board games and giant swing. The zip line racer is $10 extra. A season pass for age 13 and up is $42 and $35 for ages three to 12. Season passes are valid during normal business hours only.

• Burgin Fall Festival (downtown Burgin). Three-day festival runs through Sunday, Sept. 14. Explore a variety of unique vendors showcasing everything from handmade crafts to local goodies, as well as food trucks and live music. Friday’s schedule: Festival starts 6 p.m. with Studio G. Michael Hughes, Fly Guy, and the Sounds at 7 p.m. Karaoke at 9 p.m. Saturday’s schedule. Festival opens at 9 a.m. with car show at Burgin Independent School and dog training demo. Friday, Sept. 19
• Live drama: Peter Pan presented by the Theater Aunties at the James Harrod Amphitheater (400 West Lexington Street). Whimsical retelling of a beloved children’s tale presented by the Theater Aunties and written and directed by Lyndsi Hersch. Two performances on Friday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 20. • Harvest Fest at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill (3501 Lexington Road). Kick off the harvest season with a down-home celebration for the entire family. Watch our team process sorghum and press apples for cider while learning the history of these crops with samples. Take a hayride, paint a pumpkin, climb haystacks, ride a pony and play in the hay maze. Shop for honey, breads and jams at the Harvest Market. Watch craft demonstrations and play festival games. • Oktoberfest (downtown Harrodsburg) will celebrate its eighth anniversary when it returns, Friday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. and running through Saturday, Sept. 27. Sunday, Oct. 5
• Kentucky Heritage Jazz Festival at Old Fort Harrod State Park (100 South College Street). The festival kicks off with a concert featuring Blue Groove Jazz at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill on Sunday, Oct. 5, and then three days of jazz at the fort from Friday, Oct. 10, through Sunday, Sept. 12. Friday’s headliners are the Hot Sauce Brass Band of Louisville while Saturday’s headliners are the national recording artists the Brad Goode Quintet. Saturday, Oct. 18
• Wicked Wines and High Spirits Festival at the Lodge at Logan Vineyards Winery (254 Hopewell Road). A spellbinding day of tasting wickedly good wines and eerie elixirs, Halloween-themed cocktails that put the “spirit” in high spirits, food trucks and fall-inspired snacks live music and chilling entertainment, costume contests, photo opportunities and more festive fun from noon to 8 p.m. Tickets: $25 prepurchase and $30 day of the event.
