Harrodsburg—that’s right, Hogtown—has been named one of the 10 friendliest little towns in Kentucky.

That’s according to Diptarka Ghosh, a writer and editor for WorldAtlas.com, which bills itself as one of the largest publishing resources in geography and other topics, including sociology, demography, environment, economics, politics and travel.

“For those seeking many pleasurable experiences on their upcoming Kentucky vacations, these welcoming communities are guaranteed to woo you,” Ghosh wrote.

Noting Harrodsburg’s place as “the oldest permanent settlement west of the Alleghenies” Ghosh listed Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, the Old Mud Meeting House, and Old Fort Harrod State Park as amount Mercer County’s leading attraction. The writer also recommended boating trips through the Kentucky River Palisades as well as downtown Harrodsburg, name-dropping Brooke’s Boutique, the Old Owl Tavern and Ragged Edge Community Theater.

Other Kentucky cities listed as friendly by World Atlas are Brownsville, Grand Rivers, Greenville, Hodgenville, London, Maysville, Monticello, Augusta and Bellevue. For more information, visit worldatlas.com.
