Weekender July 10—18: Fun & Sun Fest, Hungry Harrodsburg, Friday Night On Main And More

The Fun and Sun Fest at Anderson-Dean Community Park happens Saturday, July 12, from noon to 6 p.m. The new summer event—a partnership between the park and the Harrodsburg-The Mercer County Tourist Commission—offers what organizers are calling a day packed with fun for the whole family including inflatables, food trucks and music.

Hungry Harrodsburg begins Monday, July 14, and runs through Saturday, July 19. Visit participating businesses, try their special desserts or drinks and get your card punched. The winner will receive a prize basket. Cards be picked up at participating locations—including Harrods Perk ‘n’ Chill, Lemons Mill Brewery, Blackbird Cafe, the Sandwich Shop, Bama’s Blessing, Casa Grande, C&T Market, Southenr Sugary Sweets, Grannys’ Diner, Olde Bus Station, Biggby, Papa Johns, Nuttin But Sweets Ice Cream Truck, Lee’s Famous Recipe and Harvest Market. Cards can be dropped off at the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce (101 South Main Street Suite 1) by the end of the day on Saturday, July 19.

Friday Night On Main happens Friday, July 18, with Live music featuring Good Thang Lisa and Monte and Dad’s Mad at Olde Town Park. Check out the listing below for a list of all the food trucks. There will also be inflatables. The fun starts at 6 p.m.

• Herrington Lake Bass Club Tournament at Pandora Marina (125 Pandora Drive). Qualifier for National Team Bass Association. 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Membership is $10 per person. James Bartek, programs manager at the Kentucky Military History Museum, will discuss Kentucky’s response to the secession crisis and political decisions made by state leaders, the various military actions around Frankfort, as well as how the conflict came to be remembered afterward. Special attention will be given to analyzing and understanding the Confederate attack on the city in June 1864 and its successful defense by local militia.
