Halloween may still be nearly two months away, but Spooky Season is here, judging by skeletons hanging at the front doors of houses here in Harrodsburg. Center Stage Theatrics is holding a casting call for the Haunted Frontier at Old Fort Harrod State Park (100 South College Street) on Friday, Sept. 6, starting at 7 p.m. Center Stage is handling the Haunted Frontier, the super popular haunted house at the fort, which in previous years was handled by park staff and volunteers. They are looking for scare actors and the all-important backstage crew.

The Harrodsburg Herald/Robert Moore
Clint Wandle and other performers with Center Stage Theatrics will bring back the long departed residents of the “Spoon River Anthology” at the James Harrod Amphitheater on Friday, Sept. 14.
Center Stage will also be hosting their third production of Edgar Lee Masters’ “Spoon River Anthologies” on Friday, Sept. 13, starting at 7 p.m. at the James Harrod Amphitheater. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for youths and seniors. Spoon River said they’re selling fast, so get yours before they’re gone at centerstagetheatrics.ticketspice.com/the-spoon-river-anthologies.
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is in the mood to go boo too, because Spirit Strolls: Death and Tragedy start Friday, Sept. 5, at Shaker Village. They are inviting everyone for an evening with a new batch of true tales to send a tingle down your spine. Shaker Village is warning you: stay with the group on this lantern-lit walk to the cemetery, stopping along the way for harrowing tales of everything from epidemics to murders, as well as Shaker funerary practices. The Spirit Strolls happen every Friday and Saturday starting at 7 p.m.
Have a happy Labor Day weekend, Mercer County!
