EDITOR’S NOTE: The paper edition of the Harrodsburg Herald states, incorrectly, that the Harrodsburg City Commission gave first reading to the 2025 budget. The commission only reviewed the budget. They are scheduled to give first reading to the budget at a special-called meeting on Thursday, June 20, at 2 p.m.
At a special-called meeting on Monday, June 17, the Harrodsburg City Commission reviewed the new budget for the 2025 fiscal year, which includes $11,001,884.94 for the general fund and $10,265,641.96 for the water and sewer revenue fund.
This is the first city budget for Stacey Maynard, who became the city’s chief administrative officer last year. Maynard took the commission through the budget Monday, beginning by thanking the city department heads for their work in making cuts. The new budget includes the initial payment for the Wilkinson Farm Industrial Park—$2 million, $1 million for the first bond payment and $1 million for the matching grant—and a 4-percent pay increase for city employees. However, there are no new vehicle purchases in the new budget and Maynard said department heads will hold monthly budget meetings going forward.
