Organizers of the 2022 Mercer County Senior High School Prom are seeking local businesses to sponsor this year’s event.
Three different sponsorship levels are available for this year’s prom, which will be held in downtown Harrodsburg on Saturday, May 14, from 8 to 11 p.m.
Silver sponsors are $50. Sponsors will be recognized on all Mercer Senior High social media and receive a thank you in the Harrodsburg Herald.
Gold sponsors are $100. In addition to being recognized on social media and in the paper, gold sponsors will have their names printed on the prom t-shirt.
Platinum sponsors are $250. In addtion to being recognized on social media, in the paper and on the prom t-shirt, a sign recognizing platinum sponsors will be displayed at the prom.
Inspired by Anderson County High School, who held their prom in downtown Lawrenceburg last year, organizers are hoping to hold a similar event for Mercer Senior High students this year.
They’re getting help from the Harrodsburg First Main Street Program, which hosts Oktoberfest as well as the Friday Night On Main live entertainment series.
Stacy Davis, guidance counselor at Mercer Senior High, said they are planning to decorate the downtown area similar to the way they do for Oktoberfest, with a DJ close to the the Mercer County Judicial Center and red carpet set up near the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. In addition, they will are looking to set up an area to take pictures.
On Monday, the Harrodsburg City Commission approved street closures for the prom, as well as overtime pay for officers from the Harrodsburg Police Department who will be on hand.
It’s estimated the prom would have about 400 people in attendance. School officials say about $3,000 is typically spent on the prom, but this year’s event will be special.
