Harrodsburg was included in a list of the top 20 of the safest cities in Kentucky. The list generated by Safewise is the sixth annual report in which Harrodsburg climbed from number 48 last year to number 14 this year. Safewise noted Harrodsburg as the most improved.

“This is a wonderful recognition for our community and we hope our real estate agents will encourage new residents with this information,” said Jill Cutler, executive director of the Mercer County Chamber of Commerce. “We know we have our local law enforcement to thank and all our first responders for keeping us protected.”

The list was composed using FBI crime statistics, US Census population data as well as community surveys.

Safewise calculated crime rates for every city in the state, which met a population threshold. The population versus crime reported was used to determine the list.

Lawernceburg came in at number 19 and Danville at number 47. Burgin didn’t make the population threshold to be evaluated.
