Short Indicted On 27 Counts Of Possessing A Forged Instrument

The Grand Jury handed down 10 indictments last Wednesday on charges including possession of a forged instrument, trafficking in methamphetamine and exploitation of an adult.
FORGERY, BURGLARY

Nicholas Short
• Nicholas Short, 36, of 220 North Magnolia Street, has been charged with 27 counts of 2nd-degree possession of a forged instrument, all class D felonies, and one count of 2nd-degree burglary, a class C felony.
According to the indictment, Short was in possession of a series of forged checks drawn on Farmers National Bank starting on Oct. 5, 2018, and continuing through Jan. 14, 2019. The checks varied in amount from $300 to $875. In addition, Short is charged with unlawfully entering a private residence on Jan. 2, 2019. Bail was set at $20,000. Dep. Matt Swabey (Mercer County Sheriff’s Office) testified.
• Daryl Russell, 49, of 236 Pleasant Hill Drive, is charged with 1st-degree possession of a forged instrument, a class C felony. According to the indictment, Russell possessed counterfeit money with the intent to defraud on Jan. 11. Bail was set at $10,000. Dep. Bill Cruce (MCSO) testified.
DRUG CHARGES
• Tyler Moore, 41, of 112 Herring Heights, Lancaster, is charged with 1st-degree trafficking in methamphetamine, 2nd offense, a class C felony. The offense occurred on Nov. 26, 2018. Bail was set at $10,000 on the condition the defendant report to pretrial services, random drug testing and is involved in no new arrests involving alcohol, illegal substances or pain medications with or without a prescription. Cpl. Derek Patterson (Harrodsburg Police Department) testified.
• Brian Miller, 42, of 312 Hudson Avenue, Danville, is charged with 1st-degree trafficking in methamphetamine, a class C felony. According to the indictment, Miller was found to be in possession with two or more grams of methamphetamine on Dec. 3, 2018. Bail was set at $10,000 with drug-related conditions. Cpl. • Nicarra Jones, 35, of 637 Wren Street, is charged with 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony; carrying a concealed weapon, a class A misdemeanor; driving a motor vehicle without an operator’s license, a class B misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia (a syringe), a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, all offenses happened on Aug. 20, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000 with drug-related conditions. Capt. Scott Elder (MCSO) testified.
• Chasity Washington, 41, of 1000 Delaware Avenue, Lexington, is charged with 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia (a syringe), a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, both offenses occurred on Dec. 4, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000 with drug-related conditions. Cpl. Derek Patterson (Harrodsburg Police Department) testified.
