Disponetts Celebrate 62 Years Of Love And Work

Valentines for 62 years, Dave and Brenda Disponett wed on Feb. 9, 1957.  The couple laughed at the thought of being an example of a great marriage.

“Times were different when we got married,” said Dave. “We didn’t expect much, no one expected much.”

The couple spent their life working and living as a team. The Disponetts said they had a farm, raised cattle, built houses and managed rental property in their life.

“We did everything as a team. I built houses and she kept the books,” said Dave Disponett. “We worked all day together and went to bed together.”

When asked what is the secret to a long and successful relationship, Dave Disponett laughed and said “Oh, do whatever she says. No, seriously you have to care about each other.”

Brenda Disponett smiled and responded, “We started with nothing. We didn’t know if we would starve or freeze to death but we got through it together. By working together instead of blaming.”

When asked if they are still in love the couple smiled and nodded.

“I told him yesterday that I loved him,” said Brenda Disponett. “But that was yesterday and I haven’t said it today.”

Proud of their life accomplishments the couple said they worked until they got too old to work anymore. Now with health problems Brenda Disponett is recovering from surgery at the Willows of Harrodsburg with her husband caring for her and bringing her flowers.

The couple has one daughter, Lois Ann Disponett, one granddaughter, Anna Marie Hyatt and one son-in-law Todd Hyatt.
