Mercer County Grand Jury Indicts 11

Charges Include Burglary, DUI And Escape

The Grand Jury handed down indictments last Wednesday on charges including burglary, driving under the influence, fleeing police and escape.

BURGLARY

  • Ashlee Worley, 33, of 408 Marimon Avenue, is charged with three counts of 3rd-degree burglary, a class D felony, and three counts of theft by unlawful taking, a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, Worley illegally entered Walmart on three separate occasions in 2018—Sept. 19, Oct. 6 and Nov. 1—each time taking merchandise worth less than $500. Bail was set at $5,000. David Jenkins of Walmart Loss Prevention testified.
  • Michael Cavanah, 32, of 427 Whirlaway Drive, Danville, is charged with 3rd-degree burglary, a class D felony, and 3rd-degree terroristic threatening, a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, Cavanah unlawfully entered Lanham and Company PSC on Oct. 31, 2018, and, threatened to shoot Patrolman Todd Tims (Harrodsburg Police Department). Bail was set at $5,000. Tims testified. The most recent arrest marks the 25th occasion Cavanah has been taken into custody. 

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • David Drury, 50, of 824 Rosewood Street, is charged with 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony, and two class A misdemeanors: violation of an emergency protective order and driving under the influence—2nd or subsequent offense. All three offenses occurred on Nov. 4, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000, with drug-related conditions, including reporting to pretrial services, submitting to random drug testing and not being involved in new arrests involving alcohol, illegal substances or pain medications with or without a prescription. Patrolman Aaron Steele (HPD) testified. Drury is also charged with 1st-degree fleeing/evading police, a class D felony, and 2nd-degree fleeing/evading police, a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, Drury disobeyed orders from a police to stop on Nov. 25, 2018, first while in a vehicle and then on foot. Bail was set at $5,000. Dep. Bill Cruce (Mercer County Sheriff’s Office) testified.
  • Edwin Browning, 56, of 327 North Greenville Street, is charged with driving under the influence—4th or subsequent offense, a class D felony. The offense occurred on Sept. 20, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000 with drug-related conditions. Patrolman T.J. Godbey (HPD) testified.

DRUG CHARGES

  • Roger Pendleton, 47, of 83 Shady Drive, Liberty, is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, a class B felony; 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, Pendleton was found to be in possession of more than two items used to make methamphetamine on Nov. 17, 2018, as well as methamphetamine and a straw. Bail was set at $20,000 with drug-related conditions. Patrolman Derek Patterson (HPD) testified.
  • William Jones, 58, of 411 Old Brown Road, is charged with 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, Jones was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a pipe on Nov. 11, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000, with drug-related conditions. Patrolman Aaron Steele (HPD) testified.
  • Timothy Yeager, 30, of 3000 Louisville Road, is charged with 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. According to the indictment, Yeager was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a syringe on Nov. 19, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000 with drug-related conditions. Patrolman Aaron Miller (HPD) testified.
  • Kyle Webb, 34, of 660 Hawes Lane, is charged with 1st-degree possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony. The offense occurred on Sept. 2, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000 with drug-related conditions. Patrolman Taylor Smith (HPD) testified.

FLEEING POLICE

Marcus Beasley, 26, of 513 Russell Street, Danville, is charged with 1st-degree fleeing/evading police, a class D felony. According to the indictment, Beasley disobeyed an officer’s order to stop the vehicle he was driving on Oct. 24, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000. Dep. David Prather (MCSO) testified.

ESCAPE

Robert Sawyer, 39, of 5960 Louisville Road, Bowling Green, is charged with 2nd-degree escape, a class D felony. According to the indictment, Sawyer failed to return to Boyle County Detention Center on Nov. 19, 2018. Bail was set at $5,000. Dep. Wes Gaddis (MCSO) testified.
