Kennedy Mill Bridge Closes For Inspection

The Kennedy Mill Bridge will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The bridge, which carries Kentucky Route 152 across Herrington Lake, will be closed for routine bridge inspection work, said Natasha F. Lacy, public information officer with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 7.

Motorists should utilize US 27 and Kentucky Route 34 to Route 33 as alternate routes.

Local commuters hope the nearly century old bridge holds out until its replacement is built.

Walsh Construction Company LLC is currently moving equipment to the site and hope to begin construction soon.

The anticipated completion date for the $29-million bridge replacement project is November 2019.
