Lady Titans Control Tempo But Fall Short In District Tournament

Mercer County freshman Chelsea Moore, right, battled an East Jessamine player for the ball in the Lady Titans 4-1 loss Monday, Oct. 13.

Just because you control the whole game doesn’t always mean you win, especially in soccer. The Mercer County Lady Titans found that out the hard way Monday night, as their season came to an end after losing 4-1 to the East Jessamine Lady Jaguars.

The Lady Titans outshot the Lady Jaguars 17-13, including 9-6 in the first half, but were only able to connect on one of those shots.

Mercer came out strong out of the gate, getting off four shots before East Jessamine was able to get their first.

It looked like the Lady Titans were going to take the lead midway through the first half when freshman Chelsea Moore broke away from the East Jessamine defense, but her shot was stopped by goalkeeper Sarah Underwood.

Moore had another chance just minutes later, but this time the shot went inches over the goal, keeping the score tied at zero.
