Carter Baughman Back At Mercer Basketball

Carter Baughman was one of the best boys basketball players to come out of Mercer, winning the 12th Region Player of the Year in 2019 and being a Mr. Basketball Candidate. He went on to play at Centre College where he started in all 103 games over his four-year career.
Baughman returns to the Titans as an assistant coach for Kasey McRay’s boys basketball team. He will serve as the junior varsity head coach and a varsity assistant. Baughman started his coaching career last year at Garrard County under McRay in a similar position. Head Coach McRay pointed out Baughman’s ability to connect and coach young guards, along with being an asset in the scouting department.
“One of his biggest strengths is his ability to develop guards through individual instruction while helping them understand the game from a guard’s perspective. He communicates the game in a way that helps players see things they may not recognize on their own. He has also been a valuable part of the scouting process in the past, and I expect him to step right back into that role while contributing in every aspect of our program,” said Head Coach McRay.
