Mercer County High School has found its next athletic trainer in Anna Holt. Originally from Lexington and a Woodford County alumnus, Holt was the first student to complete the University of Kentucky’s College of Athletic Training 3+2 accelerated program. She earned both her Bachelor’s in human health services and her Master of Science in athletic training in five years.
For the last two years, Holt has been the athletic trainer at Hopkins County Central High School in Madisonville. Family ties and moving closer to home were key parts of Holt taking the position at Mercer.
“I was ready to be back home and closer to my family. Both of my grandparents, as well as my aunt, uncle and cousins, still reside in Mercer County. In addition, my parents obviously grew up here and later met and fell in love at the old Mercer County High School. So, it felt like the perfect opportunity when I saw the athletic trainer position open at Mercer County,” said Holt.
