Mercer Athletes Compete In 2026 Special Olympics

Oakley Mathews took first place in the running long jump, 50-meter dash and the art contest at the 2026 Special Olympics Kentucky Summer Games held this past weekend at EKU.
The athletes represented their community with determination, sportsmanship, and heart during the 2026 Special Olympics Kentucky Summer Games.
Oakley Allen Mathews delivered an impressive performance, earning 1st place in the long jump with a jump of 3.11 meters and 1st place in the 50-meter dash with a time of 8.75 seconds. Mathews also showcased his creativity and talent by earning a 1st place ribbon in the art contest, bringing home an incredible three top honors.
