The Mercer County Public Library has kicked off their summer reading program and have a fun summer of events planned for the whole family including the fossil funhouse puppet show on Friday, June 5. The 42nd year of Picnic at the Park at Old Fort Harrod also starts this Friday, June 5 at 12 p.m. under the Osage Orange tree at Old Fort Harrod State Park with singer-songwriter David Stahl.
There are plenty to events to keep you busy throughout the summer, so have a great weekend Mercer County!
Thursday, June 4
• 400 Mile Yard Sale (locations all over Mercer County). The four day yard sale happens at locations along U.S. 68 and across Mercer County and runs through Sunday, June 7. 400mile.com.
• Baby Tumble Time at Mercer County Public Library (109 West Lexington Street). For children aged 6 months to 18 months to develop their large motor skills, gain social interactions and enhance their cognitive development. Kid friendly climbing mats, sensory pads, a tunnel and more. A free play, come and go as you can program. No registration is required. • Lunch and Learn: Tasty Tomatoes at Mercer County Public Library (109 West Lexington Street). Presented by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service, this hands-on program is for anyone looking to grow homegrown tomatoes this season. • Fossil Funhouse Puppet Show at Mercer County Public Library (109 West Lexington Street). Kick off summer reading with a dino-mite show for the whole family. The Barry Mitchell Puppet Show: Fossil Funhouse, a hilarious, high-energy puppet performance filled with laughter, surprises and prehistoric-sized fun. We’ll take a special stroll through some of our historic buildings as we share stories about the naughtier side of life at Pleasant Hill. Join us for a twilight hike through some of the less-traveled portions of Pleasant Hill’s Preserve as we enjoy a spectacular show from nature’s fireworks.
