Bulldogs Celebrate Five Seniors; Finish Just Off Podium At All-Comers

The Burgin Bulldogs track and field team participated in the Mercer County All-Comers on Tuesday, May 5. Burgin celebrated five seniors prior to the meet, recognizing Kate Hatfield, Raegan Taylor, Barron Bradshaw, Taylor Isaacs and Douglas McCoy.
The Bulldogs girls’ track team placed fourth overall at the meet, scoring 66 points. The Burgin boys placed eighth with 20 points. Burgin won three events and combined for eight medals
Taylor was the Bulldogs’ top performer, winning the 100 and 300-meter hurdles, with eighth grader Megan Darland finishing right behind her in both races. Junior Maddie Peavler finished in the top five in shot put and discus to earn nine points for Burgin. Hatfield had a silver finish in high jump with a height of 4-10.
Junior Carter Myrhe won the boys’ pole vault with a height of 11-00. The boys’ 4×800 relay team of Bradshaw, Eastin Hopkins, Aidan Phillips and Jacob Horn finished third with a time of 13:26. Bradshaw finished tenth in the 400-meter dash to score a point for the Bulldogs.
Burgin’s next meet is the region hosted by Boyle County on Thursday, May. 14.
