Mercer Holds On To Beat Commodores In Lady Titan Triangle

The Mercer County Titans softball team (2-2) beat the Perry County Central Commodores (1-1), 4-3, in the Lady Titan Triangle Saturday, March 21. Mercer also went on to beat the Southwestern Warriors, 11-4, later in the day.

Sophomore Reese Ransdell pitched six innings for the Titans and struck out five batters while allowing only three runs. Mercer had five batters with hits in the game.

Junior Lily Hart opened up the game with a double to left field and senior Ella Davis gave up the sacrifice bunt to move Hart to scoring position. Junior Jaley Bowman put the Titans on the scoreboard with a line drive to right field and Hart scored Mercer’s first run, 1-0. Sophomore Ava Musick grounded out, but Bowman got home for the Titans’ second run, 2-0. The top of the first inning ended with a groundout from junior Izzie Carlton.
