The Harrodsburg Historical Society will host an evening exploring the rich musical heritage of the Commonwealth during a special presentation titled “Echoes of the Hills: Kentucky’s Traditional Music” with noted folklorist Dr. Ron Pen on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 7 p.m.

The program will take place at the society’s headquarters at 221 South Chiles Street and is free and open to the public, though tickets are required to attend.

Kentucky is widely known for shaping the sounds of bluegrass and country music, but the region’s musical story stretches much deeper into the past. Long before these genres emerged after World War II, the hills and hollers of Kentucky echoed with a diverse mix of traditional music brought by settlers and shaped by generations of Appalachian communities.
