It was finally homecoming weekend at Mercer County Schools, and for the band, it was nothing short of a wild and busy weekend. On Friday night, Mercer Band hosted the 2005 State Champion Scottie Band Alum for a 20 year recognition ceremony at the football game. It was truly a special moment having the alum gather around the current 2025 band students just before performance time and having encouraging thoughts for them.

On the same night, there was a small ceremony for Whitaker Bank to present Mercer Band with a giant donation check for $1,500. We want to thank Whitaker Bank for cheering us on and supporting our program. All of this went on while also carving time to perform their show before the game, and perform music from their show for the homecoming court at halftime.

The sun rose on Saturday morning, and with it a feeling in the air it was going to be a great day. The Titans’ competition was the Cardinal Classic at South Laurel High School in London. There were 11 bands slated to perform in prelims earlier in the day. Class-AA was the largest class with seven bands, so they split the class into 2A-1 and 2A-2. Mercer performed at 2: 15 in class 2A-2 against Corbin, Lloyd Memorial and Christian Academy of Louisville.
