Dalton Christopher, a graduate of Mercer County High School, was an integral piece to starting the Campbellsville University—Harrodsburg campus athletic department and served the school as the athletic director for seven years before stepping down earlier this year. While a Pioneer, Christopher oversaw the beginning of nine athletic programs: men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, bowling, cheerleading, golf, esports and cross country. He also named fellow Harrodsburg native Austin Sparrow head coach of the Pioneers men’s basketball team. Since then the program has experienced a great deal of success, most notably a NCCAA Division-II national championship in 2022.

On Sunday, Aug. 4, Christopher announced he has taken a new position as associate director of athletics (communications) with Transylvania University in Lexington.
