Two Burgin Independent High School track records were broken during a meet at the Danville Admiral Stadium on Thursday, April 13. Freshman Kate Hatfield jumped 4’11 in the girls high jump, breaking the official record of 4’10 which dates to 2016. Freshman Raegan Taylor broke the 100 meter hurdles record previously held by Rebecca Biggs.
“Breaking school records happens within every four or five year span—it’s not somthing that happens over and over, so it’s a rare occurence when it does happen,” said Head Coach Bryan Vandiviere. “Having already broken two records at just the beginning of the season, I have high hopes for the team.”
Senior leadership for the team consists of Anderson Taylor, Karl Strand, Briggs Young and Brendan Stanley.
“We have a fairly strong senior class,” Vandiviere said. “The current freshman through junior year classes are also very strong, with a lot of years of experience coming in.”
