The Mercer County Senior High School tennis team has jumped out with a 4-2 record start to their season. The Lady Titans have won against Lincoln, Danville, Anderson and Washington Counties. They lost to Garrard during their second match of the season and fell to Wayne County, 9-7, Monday night after leading most of the match.

Head Tennis Coach Shawn Curtsinger anticipates a good season from his team. “Expectations are high. I’ve started coaching them harder. We are going to continue to work things out,” said Curtsinger. “We have a great bunch of young ladies with a great bunch of parents so we should be ready to go this year.”

Curtsinger has three veteran seniors this year—Rebekah Trent, Karmen Murray and Ania Boutin—and one senior who’s new to the program, Emma Leitenberger.

“We have four seniors, so I definitely want to send them off with a good season after not getting to have their junior season due to COVID,” said Curtsinger.

The Lady Titans travel to Boyle County, tonight, Thursday, April 15, to face the Rebels at 5:30 p.m.
