John “JB” Claunch
John Burton “JB” Claunch, 84, of Salvisa, widower of Anna Jean Sanders Claunch, died Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at his home.
Born March 19, 1936, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John D. and Flossie (Durr) Claunch.
He retired as a Kentucky state highway department supervisor, was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, a Mercer County magistrate from 1999 to 2014, a former chief of Terrapin-Dugginsville Fire Department, a member of the Salvisa Ruritan Club, St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 125 and former member of Daviess Chapter No. 29, was a board member for the Mercer County Chapter of the American Red Cross, a member of the Mercer County Fire Protection District, served as president of the Central Kentucky Fire Fighters Association, the Bluegrass Horse Pulling Association, a Kentucky Colonel and was a Democratic Hall of Fame inductee.
