Burl Douglas Bowling, 65, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, in London, Kentucky.
He was born April 11, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Zelma Grubb Bowling and the late Burl Bowling.
Doug was an independent truck driver for 47 years. He was known nationwide by fellow truckers as “Screamin’ Demon.” He loved semi trucks and would say, “If it don’t shine, it ain’t mine.” He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and a 1972 graduate of Jessamine County High School.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his sweetheart, Gerry Darling; one daughter, Traci Ackerman; one brother, Jeff (Lou Ann) Bowling; two sisters, Susan (Russ) Baker and Dee Dee Polsgrove; two grandchildren, Vivian Collinsworth and Morgan Ackerman, and three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Kholer, Lorenzo Collinsworth and Niklaus Collinsworth.
He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Clay Bowling.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Friday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Betts and West Funeral home. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 21. Interment was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens
Pallbearers were Ryan Baker, Steve Dobbs, Eric Mink, Barry Price, Scott Stover and Joe Wright.
