Burgin Boys Season Ends With Loss to West Jessamine

Burgin sophomore Micah Dunn looked to take the ball down the lane Tuesday night in the Bulldog’s game against West Jessamine in the 46th District Tournament.

The Burgin Bulldogs basketball team stayed within striking distance of the hosting West Jessamine Colts for most of the first-half Tuesday night in the 46th District Tournament. Over the final two minutes of the half fatigue set in as the Colts ended on a, 14-0, run to help them to a 26 point halftime lead, en route to an, 82-36, victory.

Burgin got behind 8-0 before getting their first points on a three-pointer by junior Chase Hale, with 5:34 remaining in the period.

“I told the kids to come out and enjoy the moment. This was a big time game  and I think our guys were a little shaky at the beginning. But I thought we did a good job of settling down and gaining our composure after that start,” said Burgin Head Coach Brian Kirk.

Every time the Bulldogs pulled close a costly turnover haunted them, helping the Colts take a, 24-11, lead after the first eight minutes of play.
