Lady Titans Defeat Lady Bulldogs

Mercer County freshman Emmy Souder, left, took the ball around Burgin’s Taylor Shepherd, right, Saturday night in the Lady Titans victory.

The Mercer County Lady Titans are one of the state’s best teams, while the Burgin Lady Bulldogs are in a major rebuilding year. It was evident Saturday night.

The Lady Titans held Burgin scoreless in the first half and led 56-0 at halftime, as they went on to win 75-10.

Offensively the Lady Bulldogs weren’t able to get in rhythm in the first quarter as they committed 16 turnovers, while the Lady Titans seemed to play a near flawless quarter, particularly freshman Emmy Souder.

Souder had 10 of her game-high 21 points in the quarter.

Emmy is really starting to develop. She was really relaxed tonight and I thought she played a great game,” said Mercer County Head Coach Chris Souder.

Mercer County led 25-0 after one quarter.
