Burgin Boys Track Place 4th Girls Finish 5th in Class A 5th Region
The Burgin Bulldogs finished the Class A Region 5 track meet with 63 points, 38 behind first place Lexington Christian Academy, Saturday at Admiral Stadium in Danville. The 63 points were good enough for fourth place, however it ended many of the Bulldog’s season.
The girl’s track team was closer to the top in points, but not in overall position. The Lady Bulldogs finished fifth, 28 points behind first place Danville’s 100 points, with 72.
While neither of Burgin’s track teams advance to the state meet at the University of Louisville, the boy’s 4×800 meter relay team and girl’s 4×200 meter relay reams each qualified to compete in the state meet today, Thursday, May 17.
In addition to the two relay teams, runners Gunner Kehrt-Reese, Alex Beckerson, Nick Beckerson, Travis McEachern, Summer Burke, Megan Hughes, Taylor Sanders and Liz Marcinek each qualified for the sate meet in individual events.
