One Still Missing After July 4 Boat Collision On Herrington Lake

At least one person was still missing at press time after an Independence Day boat collision on Herrington Lake.

According to a Facebook post, the Mercer County Fire Department was dispatched along with Mercer County Emergency Medical Service to a boat collision on Herrington Lake along Herrington Woods Road shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. The fire department deployed Water Rescue 6 along with Utility 6, Rescue 6, Squad 13, 101 and 602 to Pandora Marina (125 Pandora Drive).

Water Rescue 6 recovered one victim with traumatic injuries. The victim was flown to UK Chandler Hospital, according to the Facebook post. Three other victims were transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

One person still remains missing at press time. Dive teams and boats were deployed from Boyle County to continue the search. A specialized rescue crew was dispatched from Ohio and is en route. Command is operating out of Pandora Marina.

Kamp Kennedy Marina’s Facebook page was warning boaters to avoid the Red Gate/Mile Stretch area due to ongoing recovery efforts.

Kamp Kennedy has organized a care package for the injured and their families. Gift cards and donations can be dropped off at 4646 Kennedy Bridge Road, Lancaster.
