Viola Grigsby
Viola “Pokie” Burns Grigsby, 96, widow of Marvin Grigsby, died Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Rolling Hills Health Care Center in New Albany, Indiana.
Born July 15, 1929, in Rose Hill, she was the daughter of the late Howard Vincent Burns and the late Elsie Clark Burns.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church where she was baptized in the Chaplin River.
Survivors include: one daughter, Debbie (Patrick) Seifert of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Emily (Joe) Osborne and Dylan (Nicole) Harp and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John C. Burns, William Burns and Logan Burns.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12, with Pastor Jonathan Jones officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dylan Harp, Joe Osborne, Patrick Seifert, Ezra Osborne, John Brandon and Chris Wexler.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church Youth Group, 312 Main St., Harrodsburg, KY 40330 and/or Salvisa Baptist Church Youth Group, 138 Kirkwood Road, Salvisa, KY 40372 for them to attend church camp.
