L. Frank Baum’s classic will be brought to life by local students in four performances through the weekend. Check out the listings below for more details.
Music on the Lawn returns to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill on Saturday, April 26, with Shane White kicking things off at 6:30 p.m. on the lawn between the historic 1839 Trustees’ Office and the Shaker Village garden.

That’s not your only chance to hear live music at Shaker Village. The Bucolics Project, a collaboration between Kentucky poet Maurice Manning and Vermont composer Brendan Taaffe will performs ballads, hymns and fiddle tunes along with spoken word on Sunday, April 26, starting at 4 p.m. In addition to an all-star cast—Sarah Kate Morgan, Erin Shea Hogan, Sarah Gibson, Stefan Amidon and Taaffe—the performance features a crankie, also known as a moving panorama, an illustrated scroll cranked from one side to the other in a wooden puppet theater.
