One Dead After Shooting On Battlefield Road

No arrests have yet been made in this weekend’s shooting.
One woman, identified as Edwina Gail Sutton, 71, of Battlefield Road, Perryville, was killed in the shooting which happened Saturday, Nov. 22, according to a Facebook post from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
Sutton’s identification was confirmed by the Mercer County Coroner’s Office.
On Saturday, deputies located Sutton, who had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene, according to the Facebook post.
“All individuals believed to be involved have been detained and transported for further questioning,” The MCSO said.
The sheriff’s office said the firearm believed to be involved in the shooting was also located and recovered.
On Monday, the MCSO were unable to provide any furthers details on the weekend incident.
“There is still a lot of information we’ve got to gather,” Sheriff Ernie Kelty said.
No arrests have been made, Kelty said.
The sheriff said the investigation remains is still open. All evidence will be submitted to the commonwealth’s attorney and to the Mercer County Grand Jury, Kelty said.
