The Burgin Bulldogs softball team (0-1) lost 23-8 in six innings to the Frankfort Panthers (1-0) on Wednesday, Mar. 18.

Frankfort jumped out to a 10-run lead in the top of the first inning, with pitching being Burgin’s biggest weakness. The Bulldogs had five hits and drove in eight runs. Senior Kaydance Logue batted four runs herself on two hits.

The Bulldogs started senior Gracie Watkins on the bump, who had two strikes on Frankfort’s first two batters, but walked them both. The Panthers scored first after another walk and got home on a passed ball, 0-1. Watkins got the first out on a grounder, but walked the next four batters, giving Frankfort a four-run lead, 0-4. The Panthers had their first hit and scored another run. Sophomore Jocelyn Stanley got Burgin’s second out at home plate, 0-5.
