A local man faces charges including vehicular homicide after a fatal accident this weekend.
According to the uniform citation, the single-vehicle collision happened at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, on Lexington Road/U.S. 68 near Chinn Lane and Curry Pike.
A 2001 Chevy Tahoe driven by Joseph Vinyard, 43, of Harrodsburg, left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the uniform citation. A passenger in the Tahoe, Joseph Vinyard’s wife, Danielle Vinyard, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mercer County Coroner’s Office, according to the uniform citation.
Danielle and Joseph Vinyard were married in 2016, according to her Facebook page.
Joseph Vinyard was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide when under the influence of drugs, driving under the influence, driving on an invalid license, license not in possession and failure to produce an insurance card. Vinyard is being held on bonds worth $500,000 at Jessamine County Detention Center.
Vinyard was arraigned at Mercer County District Court on Monday, Oct. 13. A not guilty plea was entered on Vinyard’s behalf. He is scheduled to return to court Wednesday, Oct. 23, for a pre-trial hearing.

He will have to live with this forever. I don’t know the circumstances in this case however if I was out to dinner or something with my husband and thus happened I wouldn’t want him charged. I got in the car with him. And I know he’d be grieving more than anyone.
And what if he (God forbid) killed your spouse? He was not supposed to be driving at all. You would not only be without a spouse you would not be able to sue. He had no insurance. We have laws for a reason.
