Mercer Tennis Struggles In Season Opener

The Mercer County Senior High tennis team kicked off with their first season match against Wayne County on Monday, March 24, on their home courts. The Mercer County Senior High School opened its season with a matchup against Wayne County on Monday, March 24.
The Lady Titans had a tough break in this matchup, losing 0-5 as a team. Elizabeth Ayala lost 4-8 in the first-seed singles. Norah Martin followed up in second-seed singles with a loss 4-6. Emily Bohman lost in the three-seed singles. Olivia Rogers and Haylee Lyons had a bumpy loss in the first-seed doubles, losing 4-8. Maggie Hood and Lexi James wrapped up the Lady Titans’ night with another loss.
The boys’ team also ended their night with a close loss, 2-3. In the first seed and second singles, Henry Lanham and Luis Osoy each had a loss. Ian Shelby followed up with another loss for the boys, making it 0-3 in singles. However, Sammy Bragg and Tharun Eka turned the tide and won the first-seed doubles convincingly 8-2. Newcomers to the tennis team, Jadon King and Tucker Jenkins starred in their two-seed singles matchup, dominating with a 6-1 win.
